Andy Hillman is an event designer, programmer and technician based out of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Starting in classical theatre lighting over a decade ago, I fell fast in love with the way technology and art work hand in hand to create amazing visuals for live events. I’ve had the pleasure to work in almost every facet of live entertainment, from concerts and theatre to corporate events and permanent architectural installs.

Currently I primarily focus on GrandMA2 programming and design, or acting as crew chief or master electrician for large scale touring and corporate events. My resumé touches on my diverse background in supporting live performance. I have always tried to keep my horizons broad, learning to program on various families of control systems and getting hands on experience and training with as much gear as possible, whether that be lighting fixtures and LED panels, computer parts and programming systems, or power tools and shop equipment.

At home, I enjoy tinkering with all of the tools and devices I can get my hands on. If I’m not taking something apart or trying to put it back together, I can be found working with rendering software or drafting things to 3D print. When I need a break from nuts and bolts and screens, I love taking care of my exotic animal menagerie and building them beautiful, naturalistic enclosures. I like to get out into nature and try to find inspiration to take back to whatever I may currently be working on.
